The European Federation of Conference Towns is the unique European Federation of convention bureaus. It is the fast, accurate and independent source of information for clients to search for destinations in Europe.
In November 1964, a few far-seeing European people got together in Brussels to form what is now the "European Federation of Conference Towns". Its main ambition was to be the focal point for the Europe's emerging Meetings Industry, and although a number of things have changed since then, this remains a key objective.
EFCT maintains a friendly service to Meetings Industry professionals from all over the world, or just around the corner, helping them identify and enjoy the most suitable destinations in Europe from among the 30 countries that are actively involved in the Federation. Over the years, EFCT has become the voice of experience in the European Meetings and Events Industry, both at European and International level, and the centre of a network that is playing a significant role in the International Meetings World.
The Federation, and its main networking events, have contributed to spearheading greater understanding within the New Europe, long before last year's historic expansion from 15 to 25 EU member states. The Federation has led in the struggle to establish the Meetings Industry as a key factor in the communications of the New Europe, and to persuade the European Community to recognize Business Tourism as the vital asset it is and always will be.
The Federation is a founder member of the Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC), is active in ETAG - the European Travel & Tourism Action Group - and commands consultative status with ECOSOC, the United Nation Economic and Social Council.
