Over 100 new products, innovative solutions, expertise – this is a brief description of this year’s International Security Exhibition SECUREX. This year’s edition of SECUREX was held on 28-31 March. 181 exhibitors from 12 countries presented their offers on the exhibition area of over 7,500 m 2. It is an increase by 45% as compared with the number of exhibitors last year. The offers presented at the International Security Exhibition included security companies, video surveillance, movement detection, fire and chemical hazard detection, anti-burglary systems, alarms, audio and video recording, security systems for specific companies (e.g. banks, shops, shopping arcades). It is worth emphasising that the exhibitors chose to present over 100 new products in Poznań. The exposition of SECUREX and the simultaneously held INSTALACJE, SAWO and AQUA-SAN shows was visited by almost 24,500 people. Over 10% of them came from 25 foreign countries, including the greatest numbers of visitors from the Netherlands, Lithuania, Germany, Sweden, Ukraine, Great Britain and Italy. The fair was accompanied by a rich programme of additional events for the audience. On four trade fair days, visitors had an opportunity not only to see the exhibitors’ expositions, but also to participate in seminars and attend lectures prepared in cooperation with important industrial associations and scientific centres or under the auspices of the exhibitors. The Building Research Institute organised a meeting devoted to safety of people in buildings. Visitors could also find out more about the so-called “intelligent building” systems (as part of INSTALACJE), methods of protecting people during fires and natural disasters, the application of modern technologies in monitoring facilities or video transmission via IP networks. A seminar devoted to the security of business information dealt with current issues, such as the technical aspects of data security. It was prepared by the National Association for the Protection of Confidential Information. The Association of Engineers and Technicians of the Industry of Construction Materials in cooperation with the Polish Association of Manufacturers, Designers and Installers of Alarm Systems POLALARM organised the 16th conference devoted to property protection systems and devices. The “Visual surveillance – new technologies” conference, prepared in cooperation with the Poznań University of Technology was a perfect choice. It received a lot of positive feedback from the representatives of the CCTV sector and attracted many participants, which is a great incentive for us to prepare a similar meeting during the next show. The Urban Police Headquarters in Poznań, a partner of SECUREX, presented a stand with an exemplary workstation featuring urban surveillance options for an officer on duty. Many spectators witnessed a show of a police robot that disarmed explosives and even walked up and down the stairs. Thanks to our cooperation with one of the exhibitors, the visitors could see a fully equipped TV studio and its host, a well-known journalist, Wiktor Niedzicki. They could also participate in a popular scientific discussion on the protection of people and property. Many authorities from the security sector participated in this event. The simultaneously held SAWO show created an opportunity to see specialist shows of rescue operations following disasters. This year, SECUREX was also a venue for celebrations of the security sector. On the first trade fair day, i.e. 28 March, a special session to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the development of technical protection of people and property was organised by POLALARM, the Polish Association of Manufacturers, Designers and Installers of Alarm Systems. Esteemed guests that have contributed to the growth of this sector in Poland were invited . 5 Acanthus Aureus Awards (for stands that best implement the exhibitors’ marketing strategies) and 11 Gold Medals of the Poznań International Fair (for innovative and high quality products) were presented at SECUREX. The following companies received the Acanthus Aureus Awards: Konsmetal, Robert Bosch, Schrack Seconet Polska, Siemens and S.P.S. Trading.
