FAIR OF FORESTRY,WOOD INDUSTRY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION was held on
September 6-8, 2006, on the forest premises of the Tuchola Forest
Inspectorate (Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship). The trade show was
organised by SAWO Bydgoszcz Fair with the co-operation of the Forest
Experimental Institution (Leśny Zakład Doświadczalny) in Rogowo, the
Regional Directorate of the State Forests (Regionalna Dyrekcją Lasów
Państwowych) in Toruń and the Mieczysław Wierzbicki Association of
Forest Entrepreneurs (Stowarzyszenie Przedsiębiorców Leśnych im.
Mieczysława Wierzbickiego). The trade show was officially opened by the
General Manager of the State Forests - Andrzej Matysiak and Head of
Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship - Marzenna Drab.
”Eko-Las” is the biggest trade show of this sector in Poland, organised
entirely on forest premises. This year’s trade show was held with the
participation of 103 exhibitors from Poland as well as Finland,
Germany, Norway, Sweden and Slovenia, and the total area used by
exhibitors for exposition stands and demonstration fields cover over
30,000 sq. m. The "Eko-Las" Trade Show was visited by over 3,500 people.
The novelty of this year’s "Eko-Las" Trade Show was presentation of a
group of 20 German and Scandinavian companies combined with a series of
interesting shows of techniques and technologies applied in the forest
economy, prepared by KWF (Gross-Umstadt, Germany) and ELMIA (Jönköping,
Sweden) – well-known organisers of trade shows in the world, with which
SAWO Bydgoszcz Fair has established close co-operation.
Exceptionally attractive were also shows prepared by Polish exhibitors.
The biggest Polish exposition was prepared by OTL Jarocin, which –
among a dozen or so offered machines – presented the operation of a
harvester and forwarder. Also other domestic distributors, i.e.
Agrex-Arcon from Warsaw, Poland Forest from Poznań, Profesjonalne
Maszyny Leśne from Warsaw and Transtrol from Białystok, presented their
offer of harvesters and forwarders of different makes. Such a number of
presented makes of harvesters and forwarders has never been present in
a trade show in Poland. Trade show stands of such companies as FAO-FAR
from Puńców, Silvapol from Poznań, Agromet Motoiport from Warsaw, and
many other domestic exhibitors were also distinguished by their
multitude of offered forest machines and equipment. The total offer of
machines and equipment presented during this year’s Eko-Las Trade Show
covered practically everything that is necessary for the contemporary
forest economy.
The "Eko-Las" Trade Show was accompanied by seminars and conferences. A
seminar entitled ”Safety of works in modern forestry”, organised by the
Academy of Agriculture Chair of Work Environment Engineering in Poznań,
was held on the first day of the trade show, and on the second day – a
conference entitled "Current development and trends in the processes of
constant wood production" with the participation and lectures of
employees of the Academy of Agriculture Chair of Forest Technology in
Poznań and representatives of KWF – Germany and ELMIA - Sweden.
The program of the trade show’s accompanying events included sports
events. The Woodcutters Competition was held on the trade show
premises. Woodcutters competed in 4 events: saw assemble, double-sided
cross-cutting, branching and round timber chopping with an axe. Jacek
Stochniałek was the winner of this competition. Material awards for the
competition participants were funded by the companies: Husqvarna Poland
(Warsaw), Makita (Bielsko-Biała), and Partner (Wrocław). Whereas the
finals of the 8th Soccer Tournament of Forest Inspectorates of the
General Manager of the State Forests, organised under the auspices of
the Editorial Staff of the forestry magazine ”Przegląd Leśniczy” were

tournament was won by the soccer team of the Przedborów Forest
Inspectorate. Additionally, the fourth open Shooting Competition for
the cup of the Chairman of the Forest Entrepreneurs’ Association was
