XIV edition of International Exhibition "Green is Life" took place
under the banner "Garden - To Your Health!". This biggest exhibition of
plants and gardens in Poland and Central-Eastern Europe took place in
Warsaw in Centrum EXPO XXI
240 Exhibitors from 9 countries - Poland, Belgium, Denmark, Czech
Republic, France, Netherlands, Germany, Hungary and Italy participated
in the event. Exhibition was visited by 19 800 visitors, out of which
5500 were professionals.
Exhibitors presented a few hundred of verities of conifers, deciduous
shrubs, perennials, dwarf shrubs and creepers. They shown plants for
small gardens, big residences and city parks. Moreover, equipment for
arranging and nurturing of gardens, garden decorations and publications
devoted to gardening, and also machines, tools, accessories and
services necessary for horticulture production were presented.
Heroes of the fairs were also laureates of prestigious competitions for
exhibitors. Awarded PRIZES AND HONOURABLE MENTIONS are the mark of
Jury's recognition for the proposed products and their creators. We
congratulate all the awarded and honourably mentioned!
For three days, Centrum EXPO XXI changed into not only centre of "green
business", but also into blooming and fragrant garden. Plants from
leading European nursery companies were shown in specially designed for
the exhibition collections. Exhibitors arranged their stands in an
ingenious and inspiring way. They tried to refer to the leading slogan
of the exhibition. In some displays " Garden - To Your Health "
appealed subtly effecting on our senses, though there was also more
literal, and more witty at the same time, interpretation presenting
hospital impressions.
Specially for the needs of the exhibition, classic and elegant Display
Garden - "City Nook " was created on the area of ca. 500 m2 . It was
created only for 3 days, of 6 000 shrubs - fields of roses, ninebarks
and boxes, 33 big trees, grass and cobblestones. That garden was
created in co-operation with Polish Association of Green Areas Creators
and Landscape Architects.
During numerous horticultural and floristic shows visitors had an
occasion to learn rare plant species and gain knowledge on plant
cultivation, or creation of bouquets and layouts. Demonstration
included presentation of, under the leading slogan of the exhibition
"Garden - To Your Health", herbs and plants rich in vitamins. Other
interesting element of the event was exhibition of more than seventy
varieties of unique bonsai trees and demonstrations of their shaping.
Exhibition was accompanied by presentations of TAI-CHI exercises, in
which actively participated visitors and the Exhibitors.
Visitors of the horticultural fair could purchase original plants from a broad range of exhibitors at affordable prices.
For children organizers prepared programme of plays for "little
gardeners", which included planting of plants, creation of animal
figures from fruits and vegetables, painting of faces and artistic
competitions.
Exhibition was accompanied by VII All-Polish Conference partaken by
international specialists in field of landscape architecture devoted to
city green entitled "Green is City's Therapy ", partaken by 170
participants.
For 250 professionals organizers prepared seminar "Garden Centre - how
to sell more", during which the issues connected with planning,
management and marketing in garden centres were touched on. His
knowledge and experience shared European-class specialist from the
United Kingdom - Ian Boardman. It follows clearly from the presentation
that there is still a long way to go for our centres before they
achieve European standards, however on the other hand we are a nation
who learns fast and can achieve the set goals faster than the
statistics would indicate.
Exhibition was also the place of premiere of "PLANT CATALOGUE - trees,
shrubs, perennials were recommended by Polish Nurserymen Association"
presenting 1472 plant species and varieties. 100 Copies of the
Catalogue were distributed by lot among the visitors.
Exhibition sections:
- Trees, Shrubs and Perennials - several thousand of species and
cultivars of the perennials, trees and shrubs - deciduous, coniferous,
grafted, cut and topiaries, in different age, of different size,
different colours and shapes.
- Technique and Technologies for Nursery and Garden - irrigation
systems, planting machine, fertilizer's dosage, sprinklers, the
fertilizer's applicator, different soil basis, fertilizers -
granulated, liquid, direct-to-leaves, direct-to-soil, fertilizers with
the slow working, ecological fertilizers, pots, products for packing
and marking the plants -tablets, labels, seed's bags. Above that the
machines and appliances for plant care: wide assortment of pruning
shears, saws, mowers, millers, machines for replanting the big trees
- The garden equipment - different kind of ores, ceramics, stones,
wood for garden, garden furniture - wood, from artificial material,
from aluminium, utilizable and artistic, cast - iron moulds for home
and garden use, lanterns, fountains, gates and fences, balcony
balustrades, equipment for water ponds, children playground equipment
- The garden arrangements - companies arranging the gardens will present exemplary gardens and compositions
- Publications - books on the horticulture subject, albums and
guides about the plant care and garden arranging, horticulture, garden
magazines
